Making Koinos Great

The past few months have been tough for many Koinos holders. Some have lost faith and left the community. It’s unfortunate, especially now that the "gas-less" narrative is gaining traction, as Koinos is primed to seize the moment and draw in more attention.

Although the crypto space is really short-term oriented, we are playing a long game here, and it’s important to be aware of that. The transition to a truly decentralized society won’t happen overnight. It’ll take time for people to fully grasp the importance of decentralization and the power of owning their assets.

Everything I do is rooted in this long-term perspective: building "freedom tech"—technology that’s censorship-resistant and opens up opportunities for everyone.

The Power of Open Source

Open-source software isn’t just a development model; it’s about empowerment. With open source, users have freedom of choice, while closed-source systems trap you in vendor lock-in. When you rely on closed platforms, you become subject to the whims of the company—they can raise prices, censor users, or even lock you out. Open source is about the freedom to take your work elsewhere, to fork it, improve it, and keep your autonomy.

That’s why I’ve stopped choosing closed systems (like Google Firebase) to build on. My confidence in Koinos is rooted in its use of mature, open-source technologies like Protobuf and RabbitMQ. Koinos is built on a foundation of openness and collaboration.

As software becomes more commoditized, you’ll see similar clones popping up for every type of software, both closed and open source. The future will belong to organizations that leverage open-source communities to grow their ecosystems. Centralized, closed-source companies may struggle to compete with decentralized networks driven by a passionate community of builders.

What makes Koinos unique

Koinos stands out as a unique project in the blockchain landscape. It’s a fair-launched general purpose blockchain that features numerous innovations and a microservices architecture. By being genuinely gas-less, Koinos paves the way for real blockchain adoption, addressing a significant barrier: the reluctance of users to pay gas fees for every small on-chain transaction. This fee structure has historically hindered widespread adoption.

While some view the fair launch as a limitation for Koinos, I believe it is essential for achieving true, egalitarian adoption, similar to Bitcoin’s approach. By prioritizing fairness and accessibility, Koinos can attract a broad user base and foster a more inclusive ecosystem.

Decentralized computing

Holding $KOIN means owning a permanent share of the network’s resources—a stake in the future of decentralized computing. This is a level of empowerment few blockchains can offer. Like Bitcoin, $KOIN is a hedge against inflation, but it goes further by granting true ownership of the network itself.

Decentralized computing is vital because it removes the need for centralized intermediaries, reducing censorship, enhancing security, and giving individuals full control over their data and assets. Owning a piece of Koinos isn’t just about holding a token; it’s about having access forever to the decentralized resources that will shape the future of computing.

Becoming a Community of Builders

For Koinos to thrive, I believe we must become a community of builders, creating a diverse ecosystem of open-source tools and products that can drive this movement forward and shape the future of decentralized technology.

I may not have been the loudest voice in the Koinos community, but I've been working tirelessly for the past year, dedicating nearly all my spare time to building tools for the Koinos ecosystem.

Here’s what I’ve been working on:

1. A revamped version of Koiner with a completely new backend.
2. A modular developer toolkit for building smart contracts on Koinos.
3. A new concept aimed at community growth building.

It’s been a significant undertaking, and there have been times when I've questioned my sanity while juggling multiple projects alongside my day job. But my belief in decentralization is unshakable. For everyday people to truly thrive, we need systems that are decentralized, open, and fair.
